Job Creation
Record unemployment levels are a daily reminder of what too many families in our community have experienced, while job loss and financial insecurity weaken our economy even further. Massive bailouts for financial institutions, including AIG, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, funded at the expense of already overburdened taxpayers is not an answer to our real and immediate needs.
More than 90% of the employers in the US are small businesses. Nearly 23 million small businesses generate almost half of the payroll in the private sector and over the last decade have accounted for 60-80% of all new jobs created annually. These small businesses have great challenges: high taxes, burdensome regulation by government agencies and inadequate lending resources. As a small business owner, responsible for providing nearly 250 jobs in our community, I know about these challenges all too well.

Local Voices
The cities and the states are just taxing the small businesses out of business
I think they've got it backwards personally, the big companies they're paying the huge bonuses--they don't need help from the government it's the little guys
You've got to give us money to operate from. We're small businessmen, we can't find capital….
I think the government does have a role in helping small business owners in the creation of jobs, but without expanding too much in the regulation
They have to find a way to help the small businessman, almost like the way they helped the big banks
